AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo has urged his team-mates to silence their critics in Wednesday's crucial Champions League play-off against PSV.
The San Siro side recorded a 1-1 draw in Eindhoven in the first leg of the tie and Montolivo is desperate to show what his side are really capable of in the return fixture, especially in light of their lacklustre display in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Verona.
"We really want to prove people wrong and show that we are not the team that played on Saturday," Montolivo said during a press conference.
"We have to show what we can do on the pitch because that is the only thing that matters in football. We have to forget everything and just go out and play like we know how to.
"We know the importance of the game, we feel the responsibility and we can handle it. We must play for pride because we want to play in the Champions League.
"But we mustn’t lose sight of the fact that we need to stay calm. We still need to think about tactical aspects of the game. We must be clear headed to do well on the pitch so that we make the right choices and I am confident we can do it."
Wednesday's encounter is scheduled to kick off at 20:45CET.
